Capitol Records Building Made into Condos

In light of EMI losses, Citibank, put the building up for sale yesterday. The iconic structure, famous for its resemblance to a stack of old-fashioned vinyl records, is where groups like the Beatles signed their first US recording contracts. According to sources, the building will now be remodeled into condos and sold to the highest bidder.

Chris Brown Makes Headlines Again....

Rumor has it the ABC show "Dancing with the Stars" wants to cancel Chris Brown's appearance, after his alledged window breaking incident at GMA yesterday. What do you think...publicity stunt, really bad news or innocent until proven guilty? Below is the story.

As Chris Brown's fourth studio album, 'F.A.M.E.,' hits stores today, the singer is making headlines yet again. Yesterday morning during an interview on 'Good Morning America,' the R&B crooner had a meltdown following a series of questions about his 2009 domestic assault with ex-girlfriend Rihanna. ABC says that Brown went into a frenzy; "storming into his dressing room and screaming so loud, the people in hair and makeup became alarmed and called security." ABC's security went on to add that the Jive Records artist shattered a window in his dressing room with a chair, causing some shards to fall onto 43rd Street and Broadway.

The site was also told that the singer skipped his second scheduled performance for the network's website before ripping his shirt off and confronting a segment producer as he was exiting the facility.

Brown is currently on probation from his felony charge. Shortly after the alleged incident, the singer took to his Twitter to profess his frustration. "I'm so over people bringing this past s**t up! Yet we praise Charlie Sheen and other celebs for there bullshit," he said before deleting the tweet and replacing it with a more toned down message to his fans. "All my fans! This album is for you and only you! I'm so tired of everyone else! Honestly! I love team breezy!"

Contrary to the 21-year-old's tirade, Robin Roberts has said Chris Brown pre-approved the questions she asked him on Good Morning America before his rampage, so do you think Chris is just trying to ride the Charlie Sheen everybody loves a bad boy wave or do you think he suffers from a serious mental disorder? Roberts insists that she did not try to provoke Brown and that she was, "pulling for the guy." And by the way F.A.M.E is #1 on iTunes today...

RAPPER NATE DOGG DIED ON TUESDAY MARCH 15th

The California rapper whose real name is Nathaniel D. Hale, died at the age of 41 on Tuesday (Mar. 15). The news was first reported by Long Beach, Calif. newspaper thePress-Telegram, which did not specify the cause of death. Later, the Associated Press reports that the rapper died of complications from multiple strokes.

After showcasing his laid-back rapping/singing delivery on Dr. Dre's classic debut album "The Chronic," Nate Dogg was featured on Warren G's 1994 single "Regulate," which peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100. The song was the first of a number of hip-hop singles, including Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode," Fabolous' "Can't Deny It," Ludacris' "Area Codes" andEminem's "Shake That," to feature a vocal hook from the rapper. He also spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 as a featured artist on 50 Cent's "21 Questions." Nate Dogg's most recent solo album, "Nate Dogg," was released in 2008.

Sony Names Doug Morris New Head of Sony Music Entertainment

Doug Morris, head of Universal Music Group, is taking his talents to Sony Music Entertaining. Beginning July 1.The recording industry veteran will be taking over chief executive duties, replacing Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, who will be leaving March 31, reports the New York Times.

Howard Stringer, the chief executive of the Sony Corporation, will oversee Sony Music in the interim,“At this critical time in the evolution of the music industry, I can think of no one more qualified as a proven executive, an innovator, a music impresario and a statesman than Doug Morris,” Mr. Stringer said in a statement.

Eminem Too Expensive for 'Glee'

Hit musical comedy 'Glee' may be one of the most successful shows on television, but they're not big enough for Eminem. PRINCE AND MADONNA MAKE UP

Prince and Madonna have apparently squashed their decades-long feud after the Material Girl turned up at his recent New York concert and cheered him on from the crowd. The superstars were close friends throughout the 1980s and were said to be dating for a brief time before teaming up to record the track “Love Song,” from Madonna’s 1988 album “Like a Prayer.” But they had a mystery fall-out and their relationship turned bitter as they took shots at one another through the media. In subsequent interviews, Madonna blasted Prince as a “little troll” and criticized his refusal to eat during one dinner date, stating, “He was just sipping tea, very daintily. I have this theory about people who don’t eat. They annoy me.” Their spat continued throughout the years and Prince most recently took aim at the mother-of-four at a concert in London in 2007, when he quipped, “I got so many hits y’all can’t handle me. I got more hits than Madonna’s got kids!” But the two appear to have put their differences to rest. Madonna was spotted in the audience at Prince’s Madison Square Garden gig on Tuesday (Jan 18), singing and clapping along to his hits. Prince acknowledged Madonna’s presence by giving her a special shout out from the stage, after joking about the high-price of their concert tickets.

Later in the evening, other celebs were invited onstage during the performance of “Baby I’m a Star” including Mos Def, Brian McKnight and Jimmy Fallon, who actually went over and played for a bit on the drums. Spike Lee was also at the big show, along with Casey Affleck, Donald and Melania Trump.

Although it's been around for quite some time, the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is recently in the spotlight again after finalizing it's partnership with AVID as well as Natasha Bedingfield's performance at NAMM.

We are crazy about the concept here at TMC and all about the opportunities the non-profit is providing for schools across the nation!

The touring bus is dedicated to providing young students with opportunities to record and take part in production workshops. Students learn how to write, perform, record, produce, and shoot music videos all in ONE day! The bus also travels to conferences and national events. JUSTICE: THE TRAGIC STORY OF SARA KRUZAN

There are approximately 225 juveniles in California serving a life without parole sentence. California has the worst racial disparity rate in the nation for sentencing juveniles to life without parole. Black youth are given this sentence at 22 times the rate of white youth. A number of California cases have recently been highlighted in the media due to the background of the juveniles who received the sentences, and the circumstances surrounding their crimes. One such case involves Sara Kruzan, now 32. She was raised in Riverside by her abusive, drug-addicted mother. Sara met her father only three times in her life because he was in prison.

Since the age of 9, Sara suffered from severe depression for which she was hospitalized several times. At the age of 11, she met a 31-year-old man named G.G. who molested her and began grooming her to become a prostitute. At age 13, she began working as a child prostitute for G.G. and was repeatedly molested by him. At age 16, Sara was convicted of ambushing and killing her former pimp in a Southern California motel room. She was sentenced to prison for the rest of her life despite her background and a finding by the California Youth Authority that she was amendable to treatment offered in the juvenile system. Her clemency petition cited years of abuse and psychiatric reports saying she suffered from battered women's syndrome.

On Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 Governor Schwarzenegger commuted Kruzan's sentence to 25 years to life in prison with the possibility of parole, calling her life sentence "excessive". Governor Schwarzenegger left office on Monday. As one of her mentors noted, perhaps her case will serve as the catalyst for doing away with the barbaric treatment of minors when it comes to incarcerating them.

EMINEM KICKS OFF 2011 GRAMMY COMMERCIALS

Eminem had a remarkable music career during 2010 so it comes as no surprise that the Recording Academy would tap the Detroit rapper to spearhead the organization's Music Is Life Is Music social-networking and promotional campaign. In the 30-second ad, viewers are taken on an illustrated journey through Marshall Mathers' life. Traveling through the 'Recovery' rhymer's 8 Mile trailer park, an announcer proclaims, "Music is a last chance, a last hope, a last shot. Music is turning demons into demos into multiplatinum monsters." Images of a notebook with scribbled lyrics appear as Em's 'Not Afraid' serves as the spot's soundtrack. Even the darker aspects of the rapper's days are highlighted, with newspaper clippings detailing his arrests and divorce popping up throughout. Eminem's commercial is the first of three that will be airing in support of the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards.

ANSWERS: MICHAEL'S DOCTOR HAD EMPLOYEES STASH EVIDENCE

In day two of the pre-trial hearings for Michael Jackson's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray, a bodyguard told the court that the doctor instructed him to help confiscate medical paraphernalia from the singer's bedroom on the morning he was pronounced dead. Alberto Alvarez said he walked into Jackson's bedroom that morning to see Murray giving the King of Pop CPR with one hand. Murray then told Alvarez to place vials and an IV drip bag containing an opaque substance into separate plastic bags that were later put into a brown canvas bag. An estimated 20 minutes passed from the time Murray found Jackson lifeless until a call to paramedics was placed. Alvarez said he did not know what happened to the bags.

If there’s one thing Raven-Symoné never lacked, it’s self-assurance. In April, hundreds of you came to Washington for GRAMMYs on the Hill, while hundreds more sent emails to Congress and the FCC asking them to protect wireless microphones from interference.

Today, as a result of your efforts, our community prevailed. The FCC voted to preserve channels for wireless microphones and other wireless music technologies so vital to artists and sound engineers.

The threat we faced was significant. The FCC was poised to let new devices into the wireless spectrum that would have caused significant interference to wireless microphones. Some policy makers even suggested we go back to using only wired mics! Our Producers & Engineers Wing led the charge, with a multi-year advocacy effort culminating in large Academy member activism during Spring's GRAMMYs on the Hill.

Thanks to your efforts, the FCC will preserve two channels in every market in the country for wireless microphones, while also allowing microphone users to register in a database to secure more channels. It's a great solution that's fair to everyone.

Once again, your voice made a difference. The show will go on.

TMC'S newly launched Ultimate Exposure is so excited to spotlight it's first featured artist: Jamie Chura.

What's this Chura guy all about? Here's the story from Jamie himself...

I was born in Sydney, Australia. My family moved to America when I was 5 years old. We moved around a little bit before finally settling in Homewood, IL. - a south suburb of Chicago.

I attended Roosevelt University in downtown Chicago, earning a B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Musical Theatre. I also spent much of my time at Roosevelt writing music and performing my songs at every possible opportunity - thank you HCC Lobby!

Now Jamie and his wife, Kelley reside in Los Angeles. Kelley is acting and Jamie is performing-believe me, they are quite the talented couple and charming if I do say so myself. Jamie is currently recording and will be releasing a new album in the near future. Everyone here at TMC cannot wait to hear the new tracks...check out the following tracks for a taste of his music and you'll know why. Trust us, everyone can relate to his words.

In BMI’s 2009 Annual Review, television remained the largest revenue source with a total of 46% between cable, satellite, and broadcast television. Next in line was radio with 36%, General Licensing with 16%, and New Media with 2%. It is clear that with the downfall of the record industry, artists must aggressively shift toward licensing deals in the media for substantial income and not to mention, survival. In a report from CNN, former head of Yahoo Music said “The CD is still disappearing and nothing is replacing it in its entirety as a revenue generator yet however, digital licensing revenue had reached toward $100 billion in 2009, and we expect it to grow even further in the next couple of years.”

Ultimate Exposure will expose new artists to opportunities in the visual media world while also providing them with the opportunity to work with an already established and pre-approved music library. LOS ANGELES, June 18, 2010, Donna Ross Jones, Founder and President of Transition Music Corporation (TMC) takes an opportunity to encourage the entertainment conglomerates, who serve all communities, to implement diversity models which demand accountability.

In preparation for an L.A. hearing - lead by Congresswoman Maxine Waters - on the Comcast-NBC Merger and minority business opportunities, Donna Ross-Jones reflects upon the years of both successes and failures of competing as a minority owned business. “With thousands of pieces of content floating through your universe, on every platform, the amount of minority music being produced is very low. As one of the only “MWBE” (Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise) music libraries in the entertainment industry, it is our hope that the Comcast will lead the industry by expanding the minority vendor dialog to include business’s weighted on the creative side of the equation, like music suppliers.”

Comcast would control a huge portion of the content viewers watch on television as well as have access to platforms many individuals use such as broadcast TV, cable TV, and Internet. The merger will tremendously affect ad agencies and other smaller local production companies. Ad agencies would have less competition for local and political advertising. As smaller production companies are facing economic cut-backs already, the merger would only worsen situations by depleting money to produce local news and hire staff. In order to remain competitive, companies would have to fire staff and consolidate. Consequently, this could affect local diversity. The merger directly affects consumers as well but Comcast has devoted millions in convincing Washington otherwise. The Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission are to carefully review the proposed merger and consider what is truly best for the public. The FCC is taking comments until June 21st at www.freepress.net/comcastication.

Finally, Jones remarks with, “My company is strong and prepared to compete. We have no illusions about the competition or the complexities of our business and we don’t expect to win every time. I do, however, expect to be given the opportunity to compete. We work for major studios, but it’s the independents; who are always seeking creative solutions that make up the bulk of our business. Our goal is to use our history of success to expand opportunities at the entertainment conglomerates, which will keep the doors open for songwriters, composers and other creative’s who have faced the same barriers.”
